TODAY’S MESSAGE: Today, be cautious about your health and finances. Remember how important your well-being and long-term goals are to you. Even if you’ve slipped into some unhealthy habit or frivolous spending lately, you’ve still made some amazing progress and built a solid foundation for success. Today is a great day to get back on track.

When the Four of Pentacles appears, matters of security and control are paramount.

You have reached a point where you feel secure with your resources but don’t want to chance anything. You are holding on tight to what you have and refusing to move from your position of control. You may be protecting your money, your job, your time, your home and possessions, or your material body.

While a sense of security is to be valued, change is also necessary for us to develop. When you let loose and go with the flow, whether by taking a chance with your money, letting someone else be in charge, or clearing out the unused clutter in your home, you are creating an opportunity to learn, grow, and acquire more.

The Four of Pentacles indicates that you have a firm foundation. At this time, sitting firmly may be exactly the right thing to do. As you move into the future, you’ll have to decide whether you’d like to stay where you are or use your foundation to continue building.

All good things and the wealth of the universe flow through this card. It is the perpetual flow and the source of physical abundance. This card represents the ability to provide for oneself. Be careful of being too controlling and protective of your resources; generosity begets generosity.

Since this is a “four’ card in the suit that discusses material things, the Four of Pentacles can be about financial stability and economic security. However, it is typically seen as taking that meaning to the extreme of being possessive or stingy, which (ironically) implies an underlying insecurity. And so this card may call into question what true wealth really is.

ADVICE: You possess a certain amount of resources, and you’ve become possessive of them. You are hoarding your money, your time, your abilities. You’ve lost sight of what these things are for, and you face a lonely, unfulfilled future unless you use your resources wisely. Be aware of the opposite extreme of giving away all you have so that you are depleted and have nothing left to offer.
