Learn Pyrography
Front cover of my wood-burning how-to book: Pyrography for Fun and Profit

A great craft for hand-made gifts.

If you're wracking your brain trying to figure out what unique and original item you might want to give your loved ones this upcoming holiday season, I have an unusual suggestion for you -

PYROGRAPHY! Or wood-burning as it is more commonly called.

Have You Ever Tried Pyrography?

It's really not that hard. Anybody can learn to do it. Even kids.

Pyrography is simply the art of drawing with fire...or to be more precise...heat.

I have been creating original art using a pyrography tool for more than 25 years now. You can read the story of how I got started HERE.

💡
To sum up - I started wood burning back in 2000, and I've never stopped. It's such a fun, relaxing, and rewarding art form. And unlike most other hobbies, it also rewards you with the cozy smell of sitting around a campfire or home hearth while doing it. So, it's a rewarding form of art unlike any other.

You can burn art or lettering onto any unvarnished or unfinished wood surface, or even on what's called 'vegetable-tanned' leather. The possibilities are practically endless! Here are just a few examples to get your imagination going -

Burn With Me Live Events

The book I wrote above really is intended to be a beginner's manual. In it, I describe step-by-step how to get started with this fun art form.

But if you're the kind of person who learns best working alongside someone else, then I have some good news! I've been thinking about hosting a series of monthly Burn-With-Me live video sessions, and I'm accepting a few students to get things started!

I don't have a formal outline yet...but here's what I'm thinking:

Each month I'll decide on a group project to work on. It will be holiday themed as much as possible. But we will all be working on the same project. Anyone wanting to participate will secure their seat by paying in advance for their kit...I'm thinking around $49 all-inclusive. This way I can put together the kits and mail them out, in advance, so that all participants will have the necessary supplies on hand before the actual live event. Then, on the date and time of the event, I will Go Live...either on YouTube or Facebook in a private group. And we will work on the project together. But you will be able to participate from the comfort of your own home. You can wear pajamas for all I care, lol! Sip wine, nibble goodies...whatever works for you. And I think the event itself will go around two hours.

What do you think?

If this sounds like a FUN idea, and something you might want to join in on, let me know by sending me an email using the button below. I'll follow up with each person individually to make payment arrangements.

I'm thinking it might be a little late to do something for Christmas this year (convince me otherwise!), so I'll probably shoot for the first event happening in early January. I'll toss out some ideas for the theme for the first event, then will let all participants know what project we'll be working on. I'm kind of thinking some kind of weight-loss/fitness motivation-oriented sign. But like I said, I'm open to suggestions.

Obviously, February will be Valentine's Day themed, March will be St. Patrick's Day, April will be Easter, May will be Mother's Day or Memorial Day, June will be Father's Day, July will be Independence Day, August...Back to School? September something Fall or Labor Day-ish, October will be Halloween, November will be Thanksgiving, and December will be Christmas. Or...I might want to move everything back a month so that you already have your completed item well before the coming holiday.

Anyhow, let me know if you have an interest!
